But I learned the hard way.
When I started, I really struggled with how to find clients. And how to know how much I should spend on marketing.
Eventually, I was referred to a business coach that I ended up hiring, and was able to get SO much more focus and clarity on where and how I should be spending my time.
I remember she had me list out all of my responsibilities during one session. After 5 minutes of non-stop writing, I looked at the list and felt exhausted. She helped me realize that I was doing all-the-things and that the reason I wasn’t super effective and feeling like I was running on empty… was because I wasn’t effective since I was running on empty.
From there, we mapped out a path that I could follow which helped changed everything.
But as my business grew and I started adding employees, I was feeling isolated. There were things I needed help with that my employees wouldn’t have the answers for… and sometimes they were the problem - so I for sure couldn’t go to them and ask for help regarding “personnel” issues π !
I ended up joining a small group of other CEOs and video business owners where we could share frustrations, ask hard questions, and get feedback and encouragement. After some years with these people, I realized I wanted to spend more time helping other filmmakers in the same way I had been helped which is where this whole education brand was born out of.
